I was going so well for a moment there, wasn’t I? Bright and happy. Perky, even.
And then, with no explanation at all, I crashed. Spent three days incapacitated. In bed and facing a wall of exhaustion and anxiety coupled with a rather perplexing case of being totally unable to stand upright for more than a couple of minutes without falling over.
It was bizarre I tell you. More so because, after doing as many tests as a lab rodent, nothing was wrong with me.
Well, except for those cuh-razy symptoms.

“You can’t make friends with salad” he said, eying my lunch critically.
“You watch the Gilmore Girls too?” I exclaimed, amazed at this unexpected revelation of his character.
“The Gilmore Girls? It’s a quote from the Simpsons…” said he, confused and doubly critical.
“I guess that’s where Lorelai got the saying from then…” murmured I, embarrassed as I scuttled away with my lunch, “I have to go study now. Bye!”

The usual headnote to a post like this would involve me relaying witty anecdotes about the perils of telling the Bean that she’s about to eat spatchcock for dinner (“I’m eating whose what?!” she will respond, shortly followed by “Eeeuuurrrgh!!”).
Or maybe, if I were feeling particularly ‘television’, I would be gushing about how tender this method of cooking makes the meat.

It was a rainy weekend.
I really, almost desperately, wanted it to be sunny. To be able to sit in speckled light on the grass. To while a Sunday afternoon away on a soccer pitch. To take photos of beautiful people wearing beautiful outfits and eating beautiful food in the park. Soaking up the Vitamin D.
D for daylight. And dresses. And dancing.

They say time flies as you get older.
And, if the last month or so has been anything to go by, I’m certainly aging rapidly. Because I’m fairly certain that just yesterday I was ensconced in a pair of trackies and a hoodie celebrating a frosty birthday over ice-cream cake and swearing I wouldn’t last til Spring.
But here we are, and here I am well and truly in September (and having dated all of my filing for the last month with “April” – sorry Rob).
