I should be ashamed of my tinsel & candy-cane-less self.

After last week’s deluge (seriously Sydney – flooded train stations, roads and garbage bins floating about in residential areas? What is going on?) I was more than mighty glad to be seeing the sun pop its shiny head out from between the clouds again this weekend just past.

It’s been a funny Summer that’s now gone (already? Really? Oh.) – full of blustery winds and cloudy days that called for striped socks and waterproof anoraks instead of bikinis and flippy dresses. No matter, because not even a month ago, I decided that enough was enough and that Summer was coming to my place whether the weather decided to agree or not.

A moment of silence for the kitchen that was, if you please.

For it (with its high bench tops, wooden cabinet doors and worn linoleum flooring) is no more.

We’re most of the way through the process of installing a replacement.  ”Most of the way” being my best estimate of its actual progress, seeing as the tricky stuff has all come to ahead and there does not appear to be much to show for a day’s work anymore.

So covered in a layer of fine dust are we.
