cake testing
Just because I’ve been silent doesn’t mean I’ve been languishing in a world-without-food. (And oh-my-goodness I just shuddered involuntarily at the thought of said world. How horrific!)
There’s been recipe testing, oh yes there has! Like this chocolate peanut butter cake that I dollied up from a Smitten Kitchen recipe. And how? By adding a peanut butter mousse insert, cherries through the bottom layer of cake, and a chocolate ganache / peanut butter buttercream (say that three times fast) amalgam piped in pretty rosettey thingies on the top.
It was for a friend’s birthday picnic and went down a treat (if by treat you mean eight people clutching at their stomachs and clambering for air, and two sugar-holics asking for another slice).
I might try this one again. But with a little bit less crazy and a whole heap more cake.

The cake looks great! Chocolate and peanut butter combination is always a winner
Yep, that sounds like a treat to me! Though, peanut butter and cherries seems like an interesting combo. Does it end up somewhat like the combo of peanut butter and jam in flavour?
@Jacq: Oh tell me about it! Love love love for the sticky sweet!
@Simon: It tasted just like a light, fluffy peanut butter and chunky jam sandwich… but with bread made from super moist chocolate cake. Which was awesome. And rich. Oh so rich…
Awesomecakkkeeeess!! I wannntttt!! I might have to try that recipe too sometime then…
That cake is gorgeous, I’m so jealous of your cakebaking skills!
@FFichiban: It’s awesome. Super sticky and messy but really awesome. I’m gonna perfect it and hand it out all willy nilly, cos that’s what I do
